Eating in the cold season: five tips from the sanatorium
The body works differently in winter, and food is a large part of that. The sanatorium has put together five tips for the cold season.

The tips
The sanatorium puts them like this:
- Do not go hungry. Winter food should carry more calories than summer food, through fish, poultry and meat. Dropping carbohydrates weakens immunity
- Vitamins, particularly A and E: vitamin E helps protect skin from wind and frost
- Water: at least 1.5 litres of fluid a day even in winter, of which at least a litre is plain water
- Something hot at every meal — a hot dish or a warm drink
- Variety: rotate foods daily and eat in smaller, more frequent meals
How this works at the sanatorium
Meals are three a day, dietary, within standard therapeutic diets and ordered from a menu. Dishes are cooked in the sanatorium's own production kitchen and checked by a dietitian before service.
